duality reality

-good evening all-

Tis I.
As usual.
Well anyway, It thought I'd throw something up here real quick about an art show I'm going to be in.
YES, a real art show, at a real gallery- exciting isn't it?
but here's the real kicker, my artwork that's going to be in it is *gasp* a modern wood and metal sculpture! I'll give you a moment to recover from the shock.
better?
You did read that correctly. I, Lauren, the obsessive perfectionist who's artwork is 99.9% pure realism with a focus on minuscule details and sharp images, have indeed "branched out."
Okay fine. Let's be real. It was an assigned project in a metal/wood-shop class I had last semester. But I did do it didn't I? And the professor only had to reject one of my ideas for being to realistic, so HA.

But seriously: The show is called Duality Reality (by the fall foundations program at SMU)

I would like to note that the above picture is not mine, for I could not find one of mine right now.
This is, however the front piece from the online write up of the show from the gallery's site.

It is being hosted by MAC (The McKinney Avenue Contemporary) and will be at the Ro2 Art Downtown Gallery. Reception will be September 20th from 6:00-8:00PM and the show will be on display until October 20th.
The wonderful write up for the show, that goes into much more detail than I have given here, can be read via this link: http://the-mac.org/2012/08/duality-reality-by-the-fall-foundations-program-at-smu/

In my professional and completely unbiased opinion, this show is one to see.
I mean it. This has nothing to do with the fact that I am in it. Nothing whatsoever.
Actually, this could be one of the most important things you ever witness in your entire life.
It could change you ~forever~
Or not, but whatever. So why chance it and pass up a potentially life changing experience?
I'll be there, along with the free refreshments.
Oh yeah. Now we're talking.

Warmest of regards,
Lauren

a nutshell.

It has occurred to me that in order for you to understand not only my posts but how I relate to them, you must first know a little about me, no?

WAIT- don't leave yet, no need to worry, I'm not about to type up my life story along with an in-depth psychological essay on my inner workings.
Lets face it: where did I go to primary school? What was my first pet? Do I like pudding?
You don't know.
You don't care.

So lets pretend that while bumbling around your local library you come across a dictionary, and not just any dictionary- but a magical (its pretend, just go with it) dictionary that contains definitions of everyone on earth. Epic right? Well obviously the first thing you're gonna do is look me up.
As, Bs, Cs, Ds, bla bla bla, okay Ls- laura, laurel, AH:

Lauren {female} (lar-en or lor-en)(noun):
Average height, fair skinned, brunette, dark brown eyes. Texan, born and raised. Second year at SMU as of fall 2012. Oldest sibling of three. Quiet, observant, reader, artist, people watcher, dreamer, christian, simplistic, complicated, content, nostalgic, fanatic, obsessive, educated, loyal, dedicated, perfectionist.
Lover of fine art, fine dining, fine places & fine people.
(a.) for more information see: {actual person}

That wasn't so bad was it? Now you know enough about me to see an outline of the person behind the keypad, on the other hand I know nothing about any of you. Which is, in fact, quite creepy.
So there it is- me in a nut shell. A very sparse and simplistic nutshell that has many holes, but still.
As you read feel free to make whatever you wish of me. Treat me like a mystery to be unraveled through every bit of information. Like some crazy person whose blog you don't know why you're reading. Or even like a character in a book, and make up your own ideas of what I'm like.

But for now my anonymous audience, I must bid thee adieu.
Warmest of regards,
Lauren

{and yes} i do like pudding

irony abounds

Me, keep a blog? If you know me at all than you'll have to agree that the situation is comical.

I am admittedly a reserved person, that resists revealing things about myself, am somewhat uncomfortable around strangers, and am usually to scattered to do anything on a regular basis.

So as for keeping a consistant blog about myself... yeah, we'll see where this goes.
Bear with me guys, its gonna get crazy.

{and yes} I am going to keep posting cool pictures. They make me smile, what can I say.

Trifles make perfection, and perfection is no trifle.
