-good evening all-
Tis I.
As usual.
Well anyway, It thought I'd throw something up here real quick about an art show I'm going to be in.
YES, a real art show, at a real gallery- exciting isn't it?
but here's the real kicker, my artwork that's going to be in it is *gasp* a modern wood and metal sculpture! I'll give you a moment to recover from the shock.
better?
You did read that correctly. I, Lauren, the obsessive perfectionist who's artwork is 99.9% pure realism with a focus on minuscule details and sharp images, have indeed "branched out."
Okay fine. Let's be real. It was an assigned project in a metal/wood-shop class I had last semester. But I did do it didn't I? And the professor only had to reject one of my ideas for being to realistic, so HA.
But seriously: The show is called Duality Reality (by the fall foundations program at SMU)
I would like to note that the above picture is not mine, for I could not find one of mine right now.
This is, however the front piece from the online write up of the show from the gallery's site.
It is being hosted by MAC (The McKinney Avenue Contemporary) and will be at the Ro2 Art Downtown Gallery. Reception will be September 20th from 6:00-8:00PM and the show will be on display until October 20th.
The wonderful write up for the show, that goes into much more detail than I have given here, can be read via this link: http://the-mac.org/2012/08/duality-reality-by-the-fall-foundations-program-at-smu/
In my professional and completely unbiased opinion, this show is one to see.
I mean it. This has nothing to do with the fact that I am in it. Nothing whatsoever.
Actually, this could be one of the most important things you ever witness in your entire life.
It could change you ~forever~
Or not, but whatever. So why chance it and pass up a potentially life changing experience?
I'll be there, along with the free refreshments.
Oh yeah. Now we're talking.
Warmest of regards,
Lauren
